WordPress Media Library.

JGWS Media Optimizer is a lightweight WordPress plugin that handles WebP conversion automatically during Media Library uploads, without requiring an external image optimization service.

Upload a JPG or JPEG and let the plugin handle the conversion automatically.

The FREE version also adds a clear WEBP label to converted images in the Media Library, so you can instantly see which files have been converted.

You can optionally preserve the original JPG/JPEG file as a separate Media Library attachment, giving you access to both the original file and the generated WebP version.

WebP can provide smaller image files while maintaining good image quality, which can help reduce storage usage and improve page loading performance.

The plugin uses WordPress native image processing mechanisms and does not require an external image optimization service.

JGWS Media Optimizer PRO

Need more control over image formats, quality and Media Library files?

JGWS Media Optimizer PRO extends the FREE version with additional image formats, configurable quality settings, PNG conversion and additional Media Library features.

With PRO you can:

Choose WebP or AVIF as the output format.

Configure WebP and AVIF quality from 1 to 100.

Convert PNG images to WebP or AVIF.

Use separate conversion settings for JPG/JPEG and PNG.

Convert PNG images to WebP in lossless mode.

Preserve original PNG files.

See clear file format labels for JPG, WebP, PNG, and AVIF files in the Media Library.

Learn more about JGWS Media Optimizer PRO →

Features

Automatic conversion of newly uploaded JPG and JPEG images to WebP.

Visible WEBP labels in the WordPress Media Library.

Optional preservation of the original JPG/JPEG file as a separate Media Library attachment.

WebP versions are also generated for WordPress-created image sizes.

Default WebP quality of 85.

Preserved original JPG/JPEG files remain available independently from the WebP attachment.

Uses WordPress native image processing APIs.

No external image optimization service is required.

PDF preview images generated by WordPress are not converted to WebP.

FREE and PRO

The FREE version provides automatic JPG/JPEG to WebP conversion with a fixed WebP quality of 85.

It also adds visible WEBP labels in the Media Library, making it easier to identify converted images.

JGWS Media Optimizer PRO gives you more control over formats, image quality, PNG conversion, and Media Library file identification.

The PRO version includes:

Configurable WebP and AVIF quality from 1 to 100.

PNG to WebP and AVIF conversion.

Separate conversion settings for JPG/JPEG and PNG.

Lossless PNG to WebP conversion.

Optional preservation of original PNG files.

File format labels for JPG, WebP, PNG, and AVIF in the Media Library.

For more information about the PRO version:

https://jgwebstudio.pl/en/wtyczki-wordpress/jgws-media-optimizer/#JGWS-Media-Optimizer-PRO

How It Works

When a JPG or JPEG image is uploaded to the WordPress Media Library, JGWS Media Optimizer uses the WordPress image editor system to process the image and its registered sizes.

The uploaded JPG/JPEG image and its generated image sizes are converted to WebP.

The FREE version uses a fixed WebP quality of 85.

WebP files are clearly marked with a WEBP label in the Media Library.

By default, the original JPG/JPEG file is removed after a successful conversion.

If the option to preserve the original file is enabled, the JPG/JPEG file is kept as a separate attachment in the Media Library.

Settings

The FREE version provides the following setting:

Keep original JPG/JPEG files – keeps the original JPG/JPEG file as a separate Media Library attachment.

WebP quality is fixed at 85 in the FREE version.

External
